BREAKING: ASUU shuns meeting with FG over strike

- ASUU on Tuesday, August 29, failed to honour a meeting with the federal government

- Biodun Ogunyemi, the ASUU president, stated that the union will only honour another meeting after receiving a reply to their proposal

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday, August 29, shunned a meeting with the federal government.

According to Channels Television, Biodun Ogunyemi, the ASUU president, confirmed that the union will not attend the meeting.

Ogunyemi said ASUU met and discussed the new offer from the FG and submitted a proposal to the government.

The ASUU president added that the union will only honour another meeting after receiving a reply to their proposal from the government.

Legit.ng had reported earlier that ASUU would hold a National Executive Council meeting on Friday, August 25, to determine the direction of the ongoing national strike.

The meeting was to be held after national branches equally held meetings to decide on whether the strike should continue or not.
