3 die, 50 injured in luxurious bus accident in Kogi

- Three persons died in an accident on the Auchi-Okene axis of the Benin-Lokoja road

- The accident occurred on the early hours of Saturday August 5

- 82 passengers were involved in the accident

Three persons, a male and two females, died in an auto accident on the Auchi-Okene axis of the Benin-Lokoja road on the morning of Saturday August 5.

The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident in an interview in Abuja.

Kazeem said that 50 others, including a child, were injured and had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

He said a white Mercedez Benz Chisco Paradiso luxurious bus conveying 82 passengers was involved in the lone accident.

“The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. at the Sharp Corner Checkpoint on the Okene end of the road.

“It was caused by brake failure. A FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene 20 minutes later and took the injured and corpses to the General Hospital in Okene (Kogi),” he said.

Kazeem reiterated FRSC’s advice to motorists to regularly check their vehicles and ensure they were road worthy before putting them on the highway.

Legit.ng had reported that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ogun said six persons died while four were injured in an accident on the Lagos-Sagamu expressway on Monday, July 17.

The Ogun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Clement Oladeledisclosed this in Ota, Ogun, that the accident occurred at about 2.12 pm.
