BREAKING: Court sentences 3 persons to death over Aluu killings

- Rivers state High Court has sentenced three persons to death over Aluu killings

- Four students of University of PortHarcourt were on October 5, 2012, killed by a mob

- A Rivers state High court had previously discharged and acquitted five suspects over the killing

Five years after the gruesome killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt in Aluu, a community in Rivers state, the state high court has sentenced three persons to death.

The court presided over by Justice Nyordee has also discharged and acquitted the remaining 4.

According to the Judge, the prosecution failed to prove its case of murder against the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th accused persons beyond every reasonable doubt.

He however found the 1st to 3rd defendants guilty of murder.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a Rivers state High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has discharged Alhaji Hassan Welewa a traditional ruler and four other people out of the 12 persons standing trial for the murder of the Aluu 4.
