Ben Bruce laments suffering of Bayelsa people (photos)

- Senator Ben Murray-Bruce noted that Bayelsa state was facing neglect from the federal government

- The senator said the last government to commission a federal road there was Gowon

- He promised that this will be rectified in the next budget

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has lamented that the federal government has completely abandoned Bayelsa state and vowed that this will change very soon.

The senator in a series of tweets on Wednesday, July 19, said he and some members of his committee went on an inspection of federal roads in the state and expressed dismay at the level of neglect.

Bruce noted that the last time the federal government commissioned a road in the state was during the administration of General Yakubu Gowon.

The senator said the people were suffering especially with the oil spill in the region that has affected the people’s main source of livelihood which was fishing.
