Boko Haram: GOC pays August visit to injured soldiers, sends powerful message to troops

- The Acting GOC of 7 Division has paid a crucial visit to wounded officers in the Nigerian army

- In his visit, the GOC urged troops to speedily wrap up the war against insurgency in the northeast

- The GOC said the army has done exceedingly excellent in its offensives against the Boko Haram sect

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Ibrahim Manu Yusuf and other commanders have celebrated Eid El Fitr with wounded soldiers.

According to a statement by army spokesperson, SK Usman, the Acting GOC urged troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE fighting insurgency in the Northeast to hasten up and clear the remnants of Boko Harm terrorists (BHT) in the ongoing final onslaught against the terrorists.

The Acting GOC made this remarks during the EID EL Fitr celebration with wounded soldiers at 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital (DMSH).

He commended officers and soldiers for their dedication and loyalty in discharge of their constitutional role.

On the wounded, he described them as heroes of the war and pillars of the Nigerian Nation while praying for their quick recovery “You are fighting a just cause and God will always be by your side’’.

The GOC who was accompanied by the Ag GOC 8 Division, Brig Gen Steveson Olabanji thanked the 7 DMSH Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ndidi Onuchukwu for the luncheon initiative with the wounded soldiers and promised to always support the victims of the war.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Commander 7 DMSH congratulated the muslim faithful for successful completion of Ramadan fasting and prayed that the Almighty Allah to Open doors of blessing on Nigeria and all who participated in the spiritual exercise.

The Eid El Fitr celebration was attended by the Commander 37 Artlllery Brigade, Brig Gen Boniface Sinjen, Commander 47 Engineer Brigade, Brig Gen Joseph Chima, Commander 57 Signal Brigade, Brig Gen Gbemiga Adesina, the Chief of Staff 7 Division Brig Gen John Ochai and the Commander 8 Military Intelligence Brigade, Brig Gen Aliyu Sambo.

In a similar vein, Nigeria’s chief of air staff Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique spend Monday, June 26 on the warfront with soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast.

Legit.ng gathered that the military service chief first travelled to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and Yola, the capital of Adamawa state.

He kept his followers abreast of his itinerary on his Twitter account where he explained his reason for undertaking the exercise.

According to Sadique, his visits to the warfront in the northeast states were to boost the morale of airmen bombarding Boko Haram locations.

He said: “It is my pleasure to be here in Maiduguri to fete with NAF frontline troops in this festive period.

“I am equally glad to note the apparent high morale among the NAF personnel, who remain focused on the task at hand.

“I am exceedingly glad to be in Yola in continuation of my visits to fete with our frontline troops. Again, it is a delight to note the high morale of the NAF personnel in Yola.

“We will continue to strive towards ensuring that no inch of Nigerian territory is ever lost to our adversaries again.”

The military chief also came to the warfront bearing good news.
