Police give detailed report of Boko Haram attack on convoy in Maiduguri-Damboa highway

- Nigeria police force have shared more details on the recent Boko Haram attack in Borno state

- The police issued a statement, saying that no police officer was killed in the attack

- Six officers suffered injuries in the ambush while the officers are searching for missing persons

The Nigeria police have narrated how Boko Haram terrorists attacked a police patrol escorting relief materials occurred on Tuesday, June 20.

A report by Sahara Reporters states that the attack unfolded at Abari-Dalwa village on the Maiduguri/Damboa road, 30 kilometers from Maiduguri.

Legit.ng gathered that Demain Chukwu the Borno state commissioner of police, on Tuesday night, denied that any police officer was killed in the Boko Haram attack.

However the commissioner admitted that his men were searching for missing persons and that six officers suffered injuries in the ambush.

Narrating the incident, Chukwu said the terrorists opened fire at exactly 11:30 am as the 57 members of the MOPOL 51 Police Mobile Force from Oghara in Delta state on special duties to Askira/Uba led the way.

The officers retaliated but the superior firepower of the militants led to six injuries, including a serious injury to Corporal Danladi Ibrahim of the Special unit.

The militants fired on another police lorry in the same convoy carrying the body of a female police sergeant, Rahila Antikiriya of the State Investigative Bureau (SIB) in charge of mines and explosives.

A civilian identified as Mustapha Modu, driving a truck carrying the relief materials was killed in the attack.

Bala Tiishe, another police sergeant of the SIB was shot and killed and his service rifle taken away by the attackers, while the driver of the police truck, Sergeant Mwada Kabura, was injured.

The insurgents also drove away the police truck with two female police officers in it, several military and commercial vehicles they seized in the attack as well as several relatives of the deceased.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, 7 persons were killed after five suspected female bombers attacked Kofa Community near Dalori in Borno.

Eyewitness told newsmen in Kofa that the incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Sunday, June 18, when Muslim faithful were performing their night prayers.
