This rapper serving 7-year jail term takes YouTube by storm with his music

A 26-year-old American rapper, who is reportedly serving a seven-year jail term for aggravated burglary, has become the new YouTube star after his rap music attracted over two million views.
The rapper, identified as Demehl Thomas a.k.a Remtrex (his stage name), has been using social media, especially Twitter and YouTube to promote his music, which he composes and records from behind bars.
He has been aggressively campaigning under his stage name Remtrex to gather views for his videos on social media.

Ironically, Thomas had allegedly been convicted for making unauthorised music in jail. It is against the law to use a phone in prison, let alone record sound.
“The use of mobile phones in prison is illegal and we have a zero tolerance approach to anyone found using one,” says Serco spokesman.
But this doesn’t seem to have stopped Remtrex from releasing his music.

One of his latest hits is a one-minute video titled, “Remtrex Freestyles Through Nokia in Jail”. The viral track features footage of a phone along with his voice.
To avoid being caught again by the police, the rapper allegedly uses the old school Nokia phones rather than iPhones when recording his sound.
The talented convict is already serving nine months extra, on top of the initial seven years, for recording a rap video in prison without permission.
He is believed to be the first inmate to be charged under the 1952 Prison Act for making unauthorized recordings in prison.
