6 things you need to know about Trump's new immigration order
United States President Donald Trump signed a revised executive order bordering on immigration on Monday, March 6.
The new travel ban blocks six predominantly Muslim countries from entering the US.
This comes six weeks after the original executive order came under harsh criticisms. Some said it was an attempt by Trump bar Muslims from entering the country.
The order was later blocked by federal courts.
Here’s what you should know about the new executive order.
1. This new executive order takes effect from March 16.

2. Unlike the previous one, Iraq has been taken off the banned list because its government has boosted visa screening and data sharing.
3. The six countries affected are Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iran. Citizens from these six countries will be subject to a 90-day travel ban.
4. Permanent residents and current visa holders from the named countries will not be affected.
5. It still seeks to curb the number of refugees allowed into the United States as not more than 50,000 will be allowed in in 2017.

6. The new order suspends admission of refugees including those from Syria into the US for 120 days. However, refugees already approved by the State Department can enter the US.
