How Obasanjo forced us to donate N10m each to his presidential library project - Fayose
Governor Ayodele Fayose has shocked Nigerians with the revelation that former President Olusegun forced him and others to donate N10 million each to his presidential library.
Fayose asked the former president to refund his own part of the donation for the construction of the library that was commissioned recently as part of the activities to mark Obasanjo’s 80th birthday.
He even wants the refund with interest.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that Fayose said this while speaking at the opening of South-west Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting in Ado Ekiti on Monday, March 6, 2017.

Fayose said governors were made to donate N10 million each in 2005 to the Obasanjo Presidential Library project.
“We were made to pay N10 million each as governors, for the Obasanjo library in 2005. I’ve written him to return our money. He should return it with interest,” he said adding that it was uncharitable for the former president to deride the same party that made him a presidential candidate from prison.
According to the governor, it is unfortunate that leaders of the party have refused to speak out against injustice and oppression by theruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its agents.
Fayose said: “Why are our leaders afraid? Let the leaders be leaders indeed, don’t be afraid of the APC. PDP is a petty thief but APC is a big armed robber. Most of our leaders are too complacent, they are afraid to talk.”
Reiterating his support for Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi as the chairman of the PDP, Fayose who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum said God would soon move against the party’s oppressors just as he described Ali Modu Sheriff, the factional chairman of the party as a mole and political kidnapper.
“They are kidnappers, because when you took what does not belong to you, then you are a kidnapper.
“To me, I stand with Makarfi, because the judiciary has no reason to appoint the chairman and executive members for party owners,” he said.
