JAMB to begin sale of 2017 UTME forms

- - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to begin sales of its 2017 UTME application forms

- The announcement will be made following an agreement that was reached with other examination bodies in the country after agreeing on a harmonized timetable

- A 10-day window for JAMB’S UTME has been created by all examination bodies for the exam body to conduct its examination

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is set to commence of sale of the 2017/2018 admission forms for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).

This agreement was reached at the national headquarters of the Board in Abuja on Tuesday, January 24, after a meeting with National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Business and Technical Examination (NABTEB) to harmonize the timetable.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the head of media and information, in a statement said that the harmonized examination timetable, will solve problems arising from overlapping of examination dates, which has disenfranchised a lot of candidates.

“The bodies agreed that for the purpose of the 2017 UTME, JAMB will shift its examinations to allow students face WAEC, NECO and NABTEB,” he said.

In another development, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar and chief executive of JAMB, has said that candidates, who wish to sit for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, will take the examination under the surveillance of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

The registrar while speaking during a briefing in Abuja said the measure was necessary and that it is aimed at preventing examination malpractice during the UTME.
