Although one has to acknowledge the role the government is playing in trying to sort the displaced persons, the bombing of the camp has thrown Nigerians home and abroad into a state of confusion.

1. At least 52 people have been killed
The bombing of the IDP camp in Rann was a fatal accident. From report gotten, not less than 52 people have been killed with 120 people sustaining different degrees of injury.

The theatre commander of Nigerian forces in Borno confirmed that the bombing was authorised by him.
The major general said they received reports about some Boko Haram terrorists around Kala balge local government area of Borno state. However, the strike hit the wrong target and affected locals in Rann according to him.

6. President Muhammadu Buhari said it is a regrettable operational mistake
While people were starting to come to terms with the University of Maiduguri bombing, trouble brought forth its ugly head again with the bombing of the IDP camp.
The president is aware of the situation and has said that the federal government will assist the state government in ensuring the victims are sorted.
