President Buhari reacts to Monday morning bombing in Maiduguri University
Nigeria woke up to the sad and petrifying news of the bomb blast that occured in University of Maiduguri. The twin explosion is suspected to have been schemed by the much dreaded Boko Haram group.
The explosion that occurred in a mosque within the staff quarters left 5 people dead with about 20 others sustaining different degrees of injury. The head of the veterinary teaching hospital, Professor Aliyu Mani, lost his life in the tragic incident.

There was also another explosion at the university's 5th gate which is known to be used mainly by pedestrians. The occurrence has left the city in bewilderment as people are in total shock. UNIMAID had been a peaceful school despite the countless attacks launched on its environs.

The news of the attack has finally gotten to President Muhammadu Buhari who expressed his sadness over the incident. The president is keen on not allowing terrorism to triumph over the peace and safety of the nation under his administration.
He stressed that the perpetrators have no understanding of the religion they claim to be operating under. Also, the president reached out to those affected in the gory accident through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

“President Muhammadu Buhari strongly condemns the terrorist attack Monday morning at a mosque in the University of Maiduguri.
“The President expresses sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the university community, families of the victims and the government and people of Borno State.
“President Buhari believes that this appalling attack on a revered place of worship and Ivory Tower shows that the perpetrators have no true understanding of Islam, adding that their despicable acts of terrorism are cowardly, criminal, unjustifiable and punishable before God Almighty and the laws of the land.

“The President reassures communities in Borno and others in the North eastern part of the country that his administration will continue to ensure that terrorism never triumphs over peace-loving Nigerians.
“He reaffirms the need for Nigerians to remain more vigilant even as the security agencies continue to use all means at their disposal to combat the remnants of insurgents and their sponsors.
“President Buhari wishes those injured in the attack a speedy and full recovery, and comfort for families of the dead.”
