According to Daily Post, Ndume said while he missed a chance at the lofty position he had targeted, he was happy to be senate majority leader because he had only spent a term in the senate before bagging the position.
“I never planned to be a senator at the onset, it was God’s decision. My target was to contest for the deputy senate president, but I ended up as the leader. So, I thank God for everything.”
Ndume pledged his loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari and noted that he would always stand with the Nigerian leader in any political alignment or realignment.

“I want to say that nobody has contacted me yet on any political re-alignment. But for Muhammad Ndume, whenever there is any political re-alignment, you will find me where President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Buhari has been my long time mentor. When your mentor is on one side, you are expected to be with him no matter what,” he said.
Recall that Ndume had, after his removal as Senate majority leader, warned Ekweremadu on the floor of the house that he may be next on the list of deposed Senators.
He also warned the Senate that such actions as his alleged arbitrary removal should not be allowed in future because it casts doubts on the integrity of the Senate and could affect an even higher leadership official next time.
