Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye, the brilliant Nigerian surgeon in Texas
The Federal Government has commended a US-based Nigerian surgeon, Dr Oluyinka Olutoye, for the remarkable work he did when he removed a baby from its mother's womb and returned it back.
The senior special assistant to president Muhammadu Buhari on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the Nigerian government and people are proud of Olutoye. This was made known on Tuesday, 1st November, 2016 by Abdulrahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa's media assistant.
The news of Olutoye's feat was received by president Buhari who is looking forward to meeting him. The special assistant commended Nigerians living abroad for their roles in promoting the country and putting the nation in good light.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, Nigerians in diaspora contribute a great deal to the development of the nation. They play good roles in all the sectors of the nation. She revealed that Nigeria was working on a national diaspora policy guideline that will help regulate the engagements with all Nigerians abroad.
She urged the other Nigerians in diaspora to always do their best to paint Nigeria well since they are important to the growth of the country. The special assistant also said president Muhammadu Buhari is determined to promote the welfare of Nigerians that are home and abroad.
She added that president Buhari is determined to tackle and solve the problems of insecurity, corruption and issues that have to do with the economy.
Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye is a Nigerian surgeon whose praise will continue to be on the lips of people for a long time to come. No other doctor's name has been called in the past couple of days like his.

Olutoye and Dr. Darrell Cass, his surgeon partner, carried out an operation on a baby at 23 weeks. The baby was removed from her mother's womb when they discovered she was suffering from a tumour known as sacrococcygeal teratoma.
The operation was successfully carried out and the baby was returned back. Amazingly, the baby healed and continued to grow until she was born again at 36 weeks. This is a remarkable feat in modern medicine.
It is exciting to know that a Nigerian surgeon was part of this setup. Lynlee Hope was given a chance to be born normal because of the surgeons who tried their best possible. Olutoye happens to be the co-director of the Texas children's fetal center and fetal surgery team member.
This well praised doctor received his medical degree in 1988 from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He proceeded to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where he got his PhD in anatomy in 1996.

It was at the medical college of Virginia hospitals that he completed his residency in general surgery. His fellowship was done in pediatric surgery at the children's hospital of Philadelphia and the university of Pennsylvania school of medicine in Philadelphia.
As a member of the international fetal medicine and surgery society, Olutoye is also a member of the surgical section of the American academy of pediatrics and American college of surgeons. As a Nigerian, he has come a long way when it comes to medicine.
His remarkable works has brought Nigeria to the spotlight once again as Nigerians are proud to be mentioned with a brilliant doctor as this.
